RALEIGH, N.C. — Raleigh city leaders are looking for public input on city dog parks.

The 2018 Dog Park Study is a comprehensive approach to address the need for dog parks throughout the city.

According to a website for the project, city leaders will develop a strategy to develop safe and engaging spaces for people with pets based on feedback, spatial data analysis and a review of nationwide trends.

The study will include analysis of the geographic distribution of dog parks throughout the city and potential tools to encourage publicly accessible dog runs.

The city will also launch a pilot program of pop-up dog parks to test the idea of providing temporary, off-leash areas to meet needs in places where space for a permanent dog park is not available.
