Fayetteville police arrested one man and issued arrest warrants for three others for their alleged involvement in the vandalism and graffiti use at the Unity Tabernacle Church.

Dominic Smith, 18, of Fayetteville, is charged with 13 counts of injury to real property, misdemeanor conspiracy, graffiti violation (city ordinance) and injury to personal property. Authorities are holding him at the Cumberland County Jail under a $65,000 unsecured bond.

Police have also issued warrants for Quantavis Moultrie, 21, of Hope Mills; Gabriel Kroes, 19, of Fayetteville and Raybert Robinson, 21, of Fayetteville.

Moultrie and Kroes each face the same charges as Smith.

Robertson is charged with 10 counts of injury to real property, misdemeanor conspiracy and graffiti violation (city ordinance).

The graffiti included swastikas, stars in circles and drawings too graphic to show. However, the thing that upset Pastor Cordelia Challenger most is what was spray painted about kids.

"You don't bring up negative things concerning little kids," Challenger said. "And that particular graffiti, that particular hate, spoke about doing things to little children. You can't go much lower than that."

Police are reviewing hours of video.

Around 8:54 a.m. Thursday, officers responded to the Unity Tabernacle Christian Church at 311 Gillespie St. in Fayetteville. It was the second report of vandalism at the church. Police said six other locations were vandalized in the downtown area.

Just before 10 a.m. on Nov. 9, officers responded to the church for a report of vandalism. Police said officers responded to two other reports of vandalism along the 100 block of Person Street the same evening.

Anyone with information on the investigation or their whereabouts is asked to call 910-309-7768.
