Enloe High tagged with racist, homophobic graffiti
Police and Wake County Public School System officials are investigating after racist and homophobic graffiti was found at Enloe High School in Raleigh on Friday.
Principal Will Chavis said two glass doors, a set of windows and one side of the exterior wall of our school were spray-painted with slurs.
The vandalism occurred either late Thursday or early Friday, and staffers found it when they arrived at the school, Chavis said. Crews worked quickly to remove it, but not before some images started circulating on social media.
"The vandalism included racist, homophobic and insensitive messages that do not in any way reflect the views of our school community," Chavis said in a message to parents. "At Enloe, we pride ourselves on diversity, inclusion and equity for all students. Parents, I encourage you to have sustained and meaningful conversations with your children pertaining to race and difference."
The culprits will face "appropriate disciplinary and criminal action," he said.
