15+ NC hospitals named among the best maternity hospitals in the US

More than a dozen hospitals in and outside of the Triangle been recognized among the top maternity hospitals in the nation.

NC hospitals among safest in the nation

It turns out North Carolina is a great place to have a baby.

More than 15 hospitals in the Triangle and across the state been recognized among the top maternity hospitals in the nation, according to Newsweek.

Newsweek's national online survey asked hospital managers and maternity care professionals like OB/GYNs and neonatal care providers to recommend the top hospitals for maternity care. Patient satisfaction and rate of cesarean births were among some of the factors considered.

WakeMed Raleigh Campus, WakeMed Cary Hospital and WakeMed North Hospital received top recognition as being among the best maternity hospitals in the U.S., along with Duke Regional Hospital, Duke University Hospital, UNC Hospitals, UNC Rex and others outside the Triangle, including:

  • Moses H Cone Memorial Hospital (Greensboro)
  • Nash General Hospital (Rocky Mount)
  • Atrium Health (in Winston-Salem, Charlotte and Shelby, N.C.)
  • Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center (Charlotte)
  • Catawba Valley Medical Center (Hickory)
  • Cone Health Alamance Regional Medical Center (Burlington)
  • Mission Hospital McDowell (Marion)
  • New Hanover Regional Medical Center (Wilmington)
