Man facing manslaughter charges in Cumberland County fatal stabbing turns himself in
Sarker Kamrul Hasan surrendered at the Cumberland County Detention Center at 10:51 a.m. on Monday. Detectives obtained warrants for Hasan for voluntary manslaughter in the Homicide of Derek James Frerichs.
Man killed in stabbing at bar in Cumberland County
A man turned himself in to authorities in connection with a fatal stabbing in Cumberland County.
Sarker Kamrul Hasan surrendered at the Cumberland County Detention Center on Monday morning. Detectives obtained warrants for Hasan for voluntary manslaughter in the homicide of Derek James Frerichs.
Police said Frerichs was stabbed to death at Pyrates Sports Bar on Wednesday, April 24.
Just after midnight, the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to Pyrates at 651 W. Manchester Road in Spring Lake. Deputies found Frerichs had been stabbed.
Frerichs was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where he died.
Hasan was processed and released on a $40,000 secured bond. He has a court appearance on Tuesday afternoon.
