Woman hit and killed while crossing the street in Cary

Police are investigating a crash that killed a pedestrian Monday night in Cary. According to authorities, the crash happened at the intersection of North Harrison Avenue and Hillsboro Street.

CARY, N.C. — Police are investigating a crash that killed a pedestrian Monday night in Cary.

According to authorities, the crash happened at the intersection of North Harrison Avenue and Hillsboro Street.

Police say officers were called to the intersection around 6:30 p.m. When they arrived, officers found a woman hit by a car. The woman, later identified as 37-year-old Amy Marie Delettre, was crossing North Harrison Ave. when police say 82-year-old Richard Yoneoka struck her.

Delettre died from her injuries at a local hospital. Police say Yoneoka stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.

Yoneoka faces one misdemeanor count of death by motor vehicle.

Police have reopened the road.
