Woman charged with hit-and-run in Fayetteville pedestrian death

Police identified Cierra Holliday of Fayetteville as the driver of the vehicle in a crash that killed Rex Smith Jr. on Jan. 11. Smith was 59 years old.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A woman involved in a crash that killed a pedestrian in Fayetteville has been charged with hit-and-run.

Police identified Cierra Holliday of Fayetteville as the driver of the vehicle in a crash that killed Rex Smith Jr. on Jan. 11. Smith was 59 years old.

The crash occurred in the 3000 block of Bragg Boulevard, near the intersection with Fort Bragg Road. It was one of two fatal pedestrian crashes in Fayetteville within hours.

Holliday was charged with:

  • Felony hit and run
  • Misdemeanor death by motor vehicle
  • Driving with a suspended license
  • Operating a vehicle with no insurance
  • Failing to decrease speed to avoid a collision
  • Expired registration

Holliday, 30, is being held at Cumberland County Detention Center. She received a $20,000 secured bond and was released.
