Winston-Salem man shot and killed by police after threatening officers

A man was shot and killed Saturday night by an officer, according to the Winston-Salem Police Department.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A man was shot and killed Saturday night by an officer, according to the Winston-Salem Police Department.
WXII reports, around 3:30 p.m., officers responded to a larceny call in the 2800 block of Teresa Avenue.

Police said a neighbor, identified as Shane Williams Sims, 33, had stolen from another neighbor.

According to police, when officers tried to talk with Sims at his home, he said, "He would kill the police."

The SWAT team was called. Officers said, while they surrounded the home, Sims came outside ith a gun and aimed it at officers.

A police officer shot Sims, who died at the scene.

No officers were injured.
