Wilmington police responded to a report of a man standing in the median near the intersection of South College Road and Randall Parkway just before 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 26.

According to police, the man had a history of waving a weapon at officers in the past. When police arrived Friday, the man fled towards the BP gas station, located at 425 College Acres Drive, and pulled out a gun.

The suspect was told to drop the gun, but he refused and threatened to shoot at the officers, per police. The WPD says he then began shooting at police, and the officers returned fire.

Nobody was injured in the incident and the suspect was taken into custody.
