WILLOW SPRINGS, N.C. — A Wake County sheriff's deputy shot a man in November after he threatened the officers with a knife, according to a search warrant.

Three Wake deputies responded to a home at 2404 Topton Court on Nov. 26 around 6:30 p.m. after a woman called 911 to report she was being assaulted, the warrant states.

When deputies arrived at the home, they found Earl Joseph Bailey, 17, standing in the front yard holding a knife. As deputies approached Bailey, he displayed aggression toward the officers and was shot once.

Bailey was transported to a hospital for treatment. The State Bureau of Investigation is investigating the shooting, a routine response when law enforcement officers discharge their weapons.

At this time, it is unknown if Bailey faces charges in the incident. His condition was not released.

Arrest records show Bailey was charged in April with disorderly school conduct, simple assault and assault on a government official or employee.
