In key first vote, NC House approves $30B state budget
Most state workers will get a 4% raise this year and a 3% raise next year under the new state budget. Public school teachers will see step increases from 3.6% over the next two years for teachers with over 15 years of experience, up to nearly 11% increases for beginning teacher pay. Lawmakers began deliberating the spending plan Thursday.
