Getting vaccinated won't stop virus but likely prevents severe case of COVID-19

So-called "breakthrough cases" of coronavirus in which fully vaccinated people become infected account for nearly a quarter of new cases reported in North Carolina since late May, according to the state Department of Health and Human Services.
