With defenseman Brett Pesce "likely" out for the remainder of the series vs. the Islanders, that opens the door for Tony DeAngelo to slide in. DeAngelo played in 31 regular season games and is ready to make the most of his opportunity
Yeah, it's good. Um, it's never good when you lose, especially one of the best players in the team and a big part of our team. So it's, uh, it's so good there. Hopefully I can come in and try to try to pick up what, what he's been doing and, and just do a good job and help the team win. How hard was it for you though this season? You know, to kind of stay locked in and focused and, uh, you know, when you maybe weren't out there playing. Yeah, I mean, it's always tough but, uh, it is what it is, there's guys on each team have to do it. So you gotta be ready whenever, uh, whenever the time comes and now we got a, we got a chance so I can come and help out and hopefully make a difference. You played a good bit in playoff shifts a couple of years ago. How valuable is that now that you've played with this group in high pressure situations, I mean, I'm not worried about high pressure situations to be honest with you, but, uh, you just got to go out there and play. It's a little bit different, you know, a little less, uh, risk, I guess, to, to each, each person's game. But for the most part he's going to go out and play the way I usually do and hopefully, uh, get some results. Oh, it's my boy. So it's, uh, any time we get to play together. I always tell him that I'm gonna save the game sheets when we play together in case it's our last time. But, uh, no, it's great. Uh, we've been together a long time. So looking forward, I think this will be our first time playing a playoff game together. But, uh, I'm looking forward to it. What makes the pairing good with you and here what, what makes the good? He makes it very good just with the skating and the way he defends stuff and I try to, uh, take the offensive side of things, get him the puck in the ozone just moving our feet the way he skates is so big for me because I can just feed off what he's doing the way he closes the guys out and stuff similar to slavo when I play with him and they take the, the defensive responsibilities, moving guys around. And it's kind of easier for me to pick up where, you know, where they leave off and offensively, I'll try to try to get in the puck, move the forward as the pluck, do the same thing as always had a little chat with you at the end. Just what's his message to? Yeah, just, uh, trying to get me in the mindset of being ready. Just making sure, I think, uh, he knows I'll be ready to go. So I told him all year, whatever I could do to help win, this is what I'll do.
