WAKE FOREST, N.C. — A United States Postal Service truck was involved in a weather-related crash Sunday.

The accident occurred on Manly Farm Road in Wake Forest.

The USPS manager on the scene said the driver hit ice while driving up a hill and lost traction.

The manager said the driver was taken to the hospital but is expected to be okay.

WRAL News spoke with Philip Bogenberger, a communications specialist with USPS, prior to the weekend's winter weather.

Bogenberger said safety is their top priority.

"With winter weather coming, we always have preparations that are going into place," said Bogenberger. "We're talking to our carriers about the attire they need to wear, from weatherproof boots to dressing in layers."
