US House races: Incumbents cruise; Moore, Harris win Charlotte-area primaries
North Carolina House Speaker Tim Moore won the Republican primary in the 14th Congressional District.
Posted — UpdatedNorth Carolina House Speaker Tim Moore has won the Republican primary in North Carolina's 14th Congressional District, easily defeating Republicans Jeff Gregory and Lillian Joseph.
Moore, from Cleveland County, is the longest-serving House speaker in North Carolina history. He was endorsed by former President Donald Trump.
"Tim has served North Carolina families in the state legislature for 12 years and the Speaker of the state House for nine years," said Delanie Bomar, a spokeswoman for the National Republican Congressional Committee. "North Carolina voters will overwhelmingly send Tim to Congress in November.”
Pam Genant defeated Brendan K. Maginnis in the Democratic primary and will take on Moore in November's general election.
In other North Carolina congressional races:

"In the months ahead, I will continue working across our state to turn out the vote for Democratic candidates up and down the ballot — from President Biden and our other statewide races to candidates for Congress and the General Assembly. North Carolinians will have a clear choice to make in November. It's up to all of us to reject extremism and bigotry and embrace opportunity and progress.”
Republican Alan D. Swain defeated Robert Morales Vergara and Eugene F. Douglass in the primary. Swain will face Ross in the heavily Democratic district.
Walker told WRAL that he would call for a run-off in the race. "No question about it," he said.
Military veteran Christian Castelli finished third and Bo Hines placed fourth in the six-person primary. There is no Democrat running in the district.
Harris finished at 30.4% to avoid a run-off. Baucom had 27%.
The two finished ahead of three other candidates, including North Carolina Rep. John Bradford.
The district is currently represented by Republican U.S. Rep. Dan Bishop, who is running for attorney general.
Democrat Justin Dues will take on Harris in the general election.
The seat is currently held by U.S. Rep. Patrick McHenry, who is retiring from Congress.
