UNC police: Man touched student walking to bus stop

Police at UNC Chapel Hill alerted students and staff of a sexual battery incident that occurred Thursday.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — Police at UNC Chapel Hill alerted students and staff of a sexual battery incident that occurred Thursday.

According to a post on the Alert Carolina system, the incident occurred around 8 a.m. in the Friday Center Park and Ride Lot near 100 Friday Center Drive.

Officials state that a female student was walking from her car to catch a bus at the Friday lot when she was reportedly approached by a man who touched her inappropriately. Police could not locate the suspect .

The suspect is described as a black male in his mid-20s who stands about 5 feet 8 inches and is of medium build. He has a round face and a thin mustache and was wearing light brown pants and a flat-brimmed baseball cap during the incident.

This investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or contact the Chapel Hill-Carrboro-UNC Crime Stoppers at 919-942-7515.
