Tickets are on sale for New Hope Valley Raleigh's Track or Treat Halloween Express.

The annual event is Oct. 14, Oct. 21 and Oct. 28. Train departures start at 2:45 p.m. and continue at 5:15 p.m., 6:30 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. This not a super scary experience, but it can get spookier as the sun goes down. So, if you have a little one, you might want to plan on getting on one of those 2:45 p.m. trains. Tickets are $15. Kids under 2 don't need a ticket as long as they sit on your lap.

More information is on New Hope Valley's website. The railway is in southwestern Wake County.

Also ... tickets for the Museum of Life and Science's Pumpkin Patch Express go on sale to museum members this week and the general public on Aug. 29. Tickets will be $12. Kids under 2 are free. The event starts Oct. 7 and runs on Saturdays and Sundays in October.

On the Pumpkin Patch Express, visitors can ride the museum's Ellerbe Creek Railway to the museum's pumpkin patch, pick a pumpkin, decorate it and enjoy some crafts and games before you return to the station. General admission to the museum is not included in your ticket, so you'll need to buy tickets to get into the museum when you get there. (Admission is $18 for adults and $13 for kids ages 3 to 12).

More information is on the Museum of Life and Science's website.
