BURLINGTON, N.C. — Three people have been arrested, including a Chapel Hill teaching assistant, and a fourth is still sought in a robbery of a Burlington sweepstakes parlor that left a security guard dead and two others hurt.

Gone Fishing Sweepstakes, at 1365 N. Church St., was robbed on April 8.

A security guard at the business, Michael Thomas Le, 25, was beaten and shot in the back, police said. The robbers stole his weapon during the incident.

Another employee and a customer were beaten in the robbery.

Anthony Lamar Cason, 22, of 102 Brown St. in Thomasville, Jimal Edward Jenkins, 27, of 104 James Ave. in Thomasville, and Tanesha Annette Jeffries, 23, of 1368 Glenn St. in Burlington, were arrested this week and charged with first-degree murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon. Jenkins also faces a second charge of robbery with a dangerous weapon, as well as assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and possession of a firearm by a felon.

All three were being held without bond Friday in the Alamance County jail.

Jeffries was a teaching assistant at Northside Elementary School in Chapel Hill until Friday, according to Jeff Nash, spokesman for Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools. The school's principal notified parents of the situation, and Superintendent Pamela Baldwin then emailed the rest of the district, Nash said.

Police are still searching for Shamar Ramel Holloway, 35, of 507 Pomeroy St. in Graham. Warrants have been issued charging him with first-degree murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon, larceny of a firearm and possession of firearm by a felon.

Anyone with information on Holloway's whereabouts is asked to call the Burlington Police Department at 336-229-3500 or Alamance County-Wide Crime Stoppers 336-229-7100.
