At the North Carolina State Fair, there are rides and games, but the chicks in the Exposition Center may be the most mesmerizing. The animal attraction allows you to watch the chicks hatch before your eyes.

The eggs sit in an incubator booth while spectators wait for a chick to poke a head or foot out.

These chicks are located in the Ark which is in the Exposition Center.

Many fairgoers watch for long periods of time just to see one of the chicks hatch.

"You gotta have a lot of patience," said one of the spectators. "We could be here all day."

The chicks and eggs have been provided by the North Carolina State University Prestage Department of Poultry Science.
