Temperatures to stay in the 80s before sweltering heat this weekend
Wednesday will be warm but pleasant before the heat ramps up for the holiday weekend.
Posted — UpdatedWhile morning temperatures were in the 60s in the Triangle on Wednesday morning, they’ll rise to the low 80s.
A high-pressure system is pulling in air from the north and moisture from the Atlantic Ocean, meaning low cloud coverage is possible throughout the day, meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner said.
While humidity is low on Wednesday, it will feel steamy on Thursday and Friday.
There’s a slight chance for thunderstorms Thursday, when temperatures will reach the high 80s.
That heat jumps to the mid-90s Friday. Gardner said record highs are possible Friday and Saturday.
Both Saturday and Sunday could feel like 100 degrees in the Triangle.
Along the North Carolina beaches, temperatures will be range throughout the 80s, with only a chance of showers, Gardner said.
