A popular indoor gardening boutique, the Zen Succulent, is closing its doors in downtown Raleigh.

After six years, Zen Succulent will close its location at 208 S. Wilmington St. on Dec. 24 as downtown business owners deal with crime in the area.

The Zen Succulent has a flagship location in Durham, which will remain open.

"This decision, though difficult, is filled with gratitude," owners posted on Facebook. "Despite facing the challenges of the toughest pandemic years, our sales in Raleigh experienced a big dip, and despite our best efforts, we couldn't bring them back to pre-pandemic levels."

Zen Succulent will be focusing on its Durham shop, which will host workshops and events. The store also has a poplar DIY build-a-terrarium bar.

Owners also announced the website has been revamped with 100+ plants available for online purchase.

The Zen Succulent closed its doors in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic but had since reopened.
