A woman was hospitalized due to the shooting at 220 Swinburne St., Raleigh police said.

Woman shot outside Wake County Human Services building

A woman was taken to the hospital Wednesday afternoon after Raleigh police officers found her shot outside of the Wake County Human Services building.

Police said the woman has serious injuries after the shooting at about 1:05 p.m. at 220 Swinburne St.

There is not a threat to the community, police said.

Officers and detectives are at the scene collecting evidence and trying to figure out the circumstances of the shooting.

Sky 5 fly over the scene on Wednesday afternoon. Police put caution tape around the building, the Sky 5 video showed.

Witness Art Lucas explained what she saw on Wednesday afternoon. Lucas said the shooter ran outside as another woman was walking towards the door and started hitting her.

"“When she shot her, she hit the ground and when the lady hit the ground she was like, ‘I’ve been shot!’" Lucas said. "She’s screaming.

"I grabbed my phone. I called 911. When I called 911, I'm like, 'Someone’s been shot out here.' He's like, ' Where are you at?' I’m telling him information, but she’s still on the ground. She’s bleeding out. She’s like, 'Can you call my dad? Can you call my sister?' ... all these people.”
