A driver who caused a deadly crash in Morrisville a year ago pleaded guilty last week and will serve 60 days in jail.

Katherine Ann Deis was 17 at the time of the crash. Police say she lost control of her vehicle on Morrisville Parkway near Duck Pond Circle, crossed a median and her car flipped.

Two of her passengers were ejected and another was seriously injured. One of them, Johnathan Pooley, 18, of Apex, died at the scene of the crash, police said.

Only Deis was wearing a seatbelt, police said, and her injuries were minor.

Deis pleaded guilty to driving after consuming under 21, speeding, careless and reckless driving and misdemeanor death by motor vehicle.
