Water restored to parts of Hillsborough after main damaged

Water service was restored Wednesday evening to southeastern Hillsborough after a water main was damaged earlier in the day, officials said.

A contractor installing communications utilities bored into a 12-inch water main along N.C. Highway 86 near Waterstone Drive, officials said.

Water was turned off in the following areas while repairs were made:

• N.C. 86 at from Waterstone Drive to New Hope Church Road
• Woods Edge Mobile Home Park
• New Hope Elementary School
• Stanback Middle School
