On Monday, eastbound traffic on Wade Avenue between Edwards Mill Road and Interstate 440 will be confined to one lane throughout the day.

New pavement markings did not get a chance to dry due to fog and rain overnight. As a result, several lanes will remain closed until they can be striped and allowed to dry.

According to the North Carolina Department of Transportation, the ramp from Blue Ridge Road onto eastbound Wade Avenue will also remain closed.

As a detour, northbound drivers will take westbound Wade Avenue and Edwards Mill Road to turn around and head east on Wade Avenue. Southbound drivers will follow a detour to Hillsborough Street and I-440 East to get to eastbound Wade Avenue.

Inbound drivers should avoid Wade Avenue, remaining on I-40 East and using Exit 293 as an alternate route.

The work will be completed as soon as weather conditions allow, according to the NCDOT.
