USS North Carolina, crew back home in Pearl Harbor after 7 months at sea

The USS North Carolina with its crew of 130 U.S. Navy sailors returned to its home port of Pearl Harbor on Wednesday after seven months at sea.

Friends and family gathered on the pier to greet the returning sailors in traditional Hawaiian fashion, with leis – necklaces of flowers.

The North Carolina had been deployed to the western Pacific Ocean since July and made stops in Australia, Guam and Japan over the course of its mission.
