US Army museum in Fayetteville closing for potential government shutdown
The U.S. Army Airborne & Special Operations Museum (ASOM) in Fayetteville will close Saturday and Sunday due to the threat of a potential government shutdown.
The government shutdown could begin Friday at midnight, and ASOM will be closed on Saturday, Nov. 18, and Sunday, Nov. 19. If a shutdown is avoided, ASOM will reopen on Tuesday, Nov. 21, at 10 a.m.
In the event of a government shutdown, the museum will be closed until further notice.
“This closure affects Army Museum operations across the country,” said Jim Bartlinski, ASOM Director.
The museum at 100 Bragg Blvd. celebrates over 80 years of Army Airborne and Special Operations history and honors our nation’s soldiers/ A virtual tour of the ASOM is available online. The online museum store will remain open in the event of a shutdown.
A government shutdown could impact multiple operations, including “food stamp” SNAP benefits, closing some national parks, creating delays with air travel, halting environmental and food inspections and more.
