UNC Pembroke music professor Dr. Joanna Ross Hersey was nominated for a Grammy award.

Hersey is a member of Seraph Brass, an internationally known all-female brass quintet.

Their album, Asteria, was nominated in the Chamber Music/Small Ensemble category. In addition, a piece composed for the album by composer Rene Orth was nominated in the Contemporary Classical Composition category.

“Although we didn’t make the cut to the final five, it was totally fantastic to be nominated," Hersey said.

Hersey joined Seraph Brass in 2017, shortly before the group recorded Asteria in Hannikainen Hall in Nurmes, Finland.
