UNC Hospitals reopens to new patients after network outage

UNC Hospitals resolved a network issue that affected their computer systems Wednesday night will now accept patients.

According to UNC Health, hospitals experienced a network outage on Wednesday night that affected some computer systems.

As a precaution, hospitals were on diversion and not accepting new patients.

The hopstial system said as a precaution, they will accept walk-in patients but not ambulance admissions.

“Our hospitals implement various contingency plans and procedures to ensure that patient care isn’t affected. Our technology experts are working to restore all systems as quickly as possible,” UNC Health said in a statement provided to WRAL News.

UNC Health said they don’t believe the outage was the result of a cyber attack or anything malicious.
