Two Guilford County schools to close effective immediately

The Guilford County school board voted to close two schools, effective immediately.

The buildings to close are Bennett Middle College and Peeler Elementary School.

Peeler hasn't been in use since April 2018, when a tornado destroyed it and two other schools.

Leaders said a new location for middle college at Bennett was needed because of changes to Bennett College's on-campus learning experience.
