Two Chapel Hill police officers recently reunited with a mother they met during a call for help.

Ms. Mugweru recently contacted police to offer her sincere appreciation to officers Barcenas and Christensen for their care when she was in labor and had to stop her vehicle in the road.

These officers were the first on the scene and comforted Mugweru and her young daughter until emergency medical services arrived. A few minutes later, she delivered her son in an ambulance.

The officers also assisted by moving her car to the police parking lot to get it out the road.

Mugweru joined police as each officer was presented with a Chief’s Cup in recognition of their kindness and support. She has been looking forward to meeting the officers again under less stressful circumstances.

"Your calmness and support to Ms. Mugweru and her daughter during an exciting time is what makes you great examples of what it means to be Guardians of the Hill," Chief Chris Blue said.
