Treasure Quest Mining: New shop opens in Apex, features indoor gem mining

The business started back in 2016 after a local family found a new passion in treasure hunting. The McInerny family enjoyed spending quality time together in the mountains, mining for emeralds, or at the beach, searching for fossils.

Here's a fun update about a local business I wrote about a couple of years ago: Treasure Quest Mining now has a brick-and-mortar location in Apex.

The business started back in 2016 after a local family found a new passion in treasure hunting. The McInerny family enjoyed spending quality time together in the mountains, mining for emeralds, or at the beach, searching for fossils.

At first, Treasure Chest Mining was a mobile gem mining and treasure hunting experience. Eventually, they opened up a pop-up kiosk at Cary Towne Center during the 2016 holiday season.

"We’ve been growing over the past two years, and we are now opening a brick-and-mortar location in Apex," Angeline McInerny tells me. "We are super excited."

The new space features indoor gem mining in air conditioning, which is perfect for the hot months ahead of us. There's also a full-scale prehistoric gift shop and party space.

The space looks great!
