A few years ago, Kidzu Children's Museum came out with Discovery Packs that are aimed at helping kids learn more about the natural world around them.

Families could check out the Discovery Packs for free, and Kidzu also created Discovery Boxes with educational activities for teachers.

Now, as Kidzu seeks to offer more at-home activities for kids during the pandemic, it has placed 11 different Discovery Packs online. Now, families can simply download booklets with self-guided activities that they can do with their kids in their own backyard.

They include prompts for scientific discovery, creative play and journaling. These are best for young grader schoolers and younger. Most require materials that are found around your home.

Themes include Art in the Garden, Beautiful Butterflies, Brilliant Birds, Backyard Bees and Weather Wonders.

To encourage participation, Kidzu also has launched a Discovery Dash, a challenge that lets kids earn badges and prizes for each of the Discovery Pack activities that they complete.

More information about the program is on Kidzu's website and in this video.
