'This is the best possible outcome': Dog and goat best friends find forever home

A dog and goat who are best friends found their forever home Tuesday after an outpouring on social media.

The Wake County Animal Center had reached out to a long-time national rescue partner and a local foster family they’d previously worked with, and by the end of the week, these now viral, four-legged friends will be arriving at a new forever home.

"I'm so excited they will be living their dream life in Johnston County with their new family," said Shinca Thomas, chair of the Wake County Board of Commissioners. "The Wake County Animal Center has a fantastic rescue network and they focused on the best solution for this pair after getting custody of them. This was the best outcome we could hope for!"

Cinnamon the goat and Felix the dog play, sleep and eat together, and now they will continue to do so on a local Johnston County Farm.

"It is the best possible outcome," "We always have guinea pigs, and rabbits, rodents, we've had hedgehogs. Nothing like this ever happened before," said Wake County Animal Center Director Dr. Jennifer Federico.

The story touched the hearts and started an outpouring of support on WRAL's Facebook page, with several online putting some pressure on your's truly.

“Goats are social animals and so are dogs, so when they’re put together – it makes sense they would find friendship,” Federico said. “These two are ridiculously bonded. The goat is very bonded to the dog.

While Felix is temporarily separated from Cinnamon after getting neutered, they will soon be together forever in the forever home.

"They have found a place with only a small herd of goats who also has space to take Felix," Federico said. "Cinnamon just is right behind Felix wherever he's going. She's just going and that is just the deal."
