Theatre Raleigh's 2019-2020 Family Series opens this month with "Around the World in 80 Days."

The show about an eccentric millionaire and three companions who go on a globe-trotting musical adventure that involves hot air balloons, elephants, stolen diamonds and all kinds of disguises. The hour-long show opens Oct. 11 and runs on select days through Oct. 27 at the Duke Energy Center for Performing Arts.

Single tickets are $17 for adults and $12 for kids. But, when you buy a Family Series Subscription, you can save a bit of money and go to both Family Series shows for $30 for adults and $20 for kids.

The second show is "Bud, Not Buddy," based on the children's novel by Christopher Paul Curtis. It runs March 13 to March 29. Here's a description: "It’s 1936 in Flint, Michigan, and 10-year-old Bud is sure about two things: he wants to find his father, and he is not called Buddy. Follow him as he sets off an epic journey of discovery, set to the soulful sounds of jazz."

"Around the World in 80 Days" is recommended for all ages. "Bud, Not Buddy" is best for ages 9 and up.
