Thanksgiving Travel: A Look at the Forecast

It is almost time for the turkeys to be stuffed and the house filled with the amazing sights and smells of Thanksgiving! Families will gather, play games, and enjoy each other’s company (while hopefully not pushing too many buttons!). Of course, the weather forecast becomes even more important when plans are being made on when to travel for this food-filled holiday. We are already starting to get several indications of the weather that the atmosphere may dish out leading up to the holiday.

Starting the week off on Monday, we are likely to have a pretty calm forecast with an area of high-pressure overhead. The “high pressure” acts to push air back down and not allow us to get much in the way of showers/storms, for example.

It does look a bit dicey, however, to our west in and around the TN Valley where showers (and some storms) will be getting going ahead of a front.

The front will move closer to our neck of the woods by Tuesday, where we are likely to see rain. The coverage could be expansive, even getting up into New England through the day.

By Wednesday, there could still be a few lingering showers, but most of the rainfall will be over for our area. The weather could still be a bit messy into New England with some snow showers across Maine.

Keep in mind, as we get closer, we will be able to fine-tune these details even more, and some may even shift a bit. Overall, though, the first part of the week looks a bit messy before improvement by Wednesday.
