Raleigh Little Theatre will host its first ever fully virtual production starting this week.

"She Kills Monsters: Virtual Realms" will star local teens who are part of the theater company's Teens on Stage and Teens Backstage summer program, a six-week intensive for high school students.

Here's a description of the show:

In She Kills Monsters: Virtual Realms, Agnes Evans must learn to cope with the death of her teenage sister, Tilly. When Agnes finds Tilly’s Dungeons & Dragons notebook, she stumbles into a journey of discovery and action-packed adventure in the imaginary world that was Tilly’s refuge.

Director Meredyth Pederson Cooper, RLT's Executive Director Heather Strickland and Caroline Farmer, who plays Agnes in the show, spoke about the production on WHUP's Lights Up on Wednesday evening.

The playwright behind "She Kills Monsters" quickly rewrote the play in the spring so it could be performed virtually.

"It's a great mix of fun and the magic of Dungeons & Dragons with a very real journey through grief that our main character Agnes is going through over the course of the play," Pederson Cooper said during the WHUP broadcast. "We are performing all of that over Zoom and that is done through a live stream to our audiences."

Access links for the show are only $10 per household and will be sold until an hour before showtime. Performance dates are 7:30 p.m., July 24, July 25, July 31 and Aug. 1. More information is on RLT's website.
