The English department at East Carolina University is about to gain some curriculum from music's most celebrated, yet tortured poet.

English 1500: Taylor’s Version will be offered at ECU starting for the fall 2024 semester, according to a release from the university. The class will examine Swift's work and the intense fandom of 'Swifties,' among other topics.

Dr. Anna Froula will teach the class. Froula said she got the idea after taking a Swift-based course. Many other colleges and universities have introduced classes around Swift, like Piedmont Community College in Roxboro.

Swift's latest release, The Tortured Poets Department, is her 11th studio album and recently surpassed one billion streams in a single week.

The course satisfies a general education humanities requirement.
