Tanker truck driver dies in overturn on US Highway 264 in Nash County

A tanker truck driver has died after their vehicle overturned on US Highway 264 on Tuesday evening, according to the State Highway Patrol.

The eastbound lanes were closed around rush hour near Bailey. A tow truck had arrived to take the tanker away around exit 11.

The truck that shut down part of the highway was seen badly damaged in the median and traffic was backed up for miles.

The truck had a Williams Fuel logo, a Tarboro-based company.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
