Meals on Wheels of Wake County is switching their food source to another vendor after issues with food supply and the coronavirus. This means that they won't be able to provide meals to county residents for one week, starting June 22.

A spokesperson from the organization said services have been stretched thin across the country because of limits on market supply.

Starting next week, the service will go a week without serving meals. Around 1,400 people rely on Meals on Wheels in Wake County.

Food Runners Collaborative, a previous vendor for Meals on Wheels, was closed temporarily after an employee tested positive for coronavirus, and Meals and Wheels started working with other vendors during that time.

Effective June 29, Meals on Wheels will source and deliver meals from Blue Dog and Associates in Virginia.

The organization hopes the new vendor will be a more consistent supply of food for the county.
