Sudden death of Fayetteville State student

Detectives with the Fayetteville Police Department’s Homicide Unit were conducting a death investigation on Saturday afternoon after finding a dead student in a residence along the 1300 block of Coley Drive, not far from campus.

Mia Barfield. 22. was from Greenville, NC.

FSU campus police found her after responding to a well-being check from family members.

Fayetteville Police arrived at around 4:09 p.m. to assist.

FSU police are collaborating with the Fayetteville Police Department's homicide detectives to conduct the investigation.

Coley Drive intersects with College Street, near the University Place Apartments adjacent to Fayetteville State University.
