Student taken into custody after threatening Wilson County high school

A Beddingfield High School student was taken into custody after threatening a Wilson County high school.

The school said Monday that the student who made the threat has been taken into custody.

"Law enforcement identified the student who made a threat against our school through social media and have taken the student into custody," the school said Monday. "Appropriate disciplinary action will be taken at the school level and charges will be filed through law enforcement."

The school said Sunday that there will be extra security on the campus Monday.

"I apologize for the late message, but I wanted to make staff and families aware of a threat against our school that is circulating on social media," the school said Sunday on Facebook. "We are aware of the threat and are investigating the situation with law enforcement."

Two other Wilson County high schools also threatened

Fike High School and Hunt High School also received threats from a student who they said does not attend either of the schools.

"Law enforcement identified the student who made a threat against our school through social media and have taken the student into custody," the schools said in a message Monday. "The student does not attend Fike High School/Hunt High School."

On Sunday, the schools said threats had been made against all three high schools.

"I wanted to make families aware of a threat against the three traditional high schools which includes our school that is circulating on social media from an anonymous source," Fike and Hunt high schools said Sunday.

All of the schools said they do not tolerate threats and encouraged parents to speak with their kids about school safety.
