Soldier arrested, charged with 5 felonies for allegedly sexually assaulting juvenile
The Hoke County Sheriff's Office has charged a man with several counts of indecent liberties with a child Tuesday for a sexual assault of a juvenile.
The sheriff's office says that on Aug. 18, deputies received received a report from the United States Army Criminal Investigation Division of a juvenile victim of a sexual assault.
The investigation found evidence that led to the arrest of Shawn Michael Lima, who was in the Army, according to the sheriff's office.
Lima has been charged with the following:
- 11 counts of indecent liberties with a child
- Six counts of statutory sex offense with a child less than or equal to 15 years of age
- Four counts of crimes against nature
- One count of disseminating obscenity
- One count of second-degree forcible sex offense
All of these charges are felonies.
Lima was also charged with seven counts of sexual battery and four counts of disseminating harmful material to minors, both misdemeanors.
He was taken into custody without incident, served with all arrest warrants and received a $5,000,000 secured bond.
