Softball Rankings: Six new teams join statewide top 25; 11 join area code rankings

Six new teams are joining this week's HighSchoolOT softball statewide rankings.

Piedmont, Apex Friendship, West Rowan, Hoggard, North Davidson and North Duplin dropped out from a week ago. Replacing those six were Franklin, Oak Grove, Weddington, Maiden, Enka, and Orange.

Rankings reminders:

• Rankings are updated weekly and released on every Monday
• All high schools in the state of North Carolina, excluding athletic training academies, are eligible for the statewide top 25
• There is a separate top 15 for the state's six area codes that is also updated weekly
• Rankings are paused during the N.C. High School Athletic Association playoffs
• Final rankings are released the week after the state championships
