Six-year-old Henderson boy shot, killed, father charged with child abuse

On Saturday after 4:30 p.m. Vance County police responded to the shooting of a six-year-old boy. His father was arrested and charged with felony child abuse.

On Saturday after 4:30 p.m. the Vance County Sheriff's Office responded to the shooting of a six-year-old boy at Hoyle Lane in Henderson.

The child was transported to Maria Parham Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Vance County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Unit and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation conducted an investigation.

The child's father, Eric Eugene Allen Rowe, 31, was arrested and charged with felony child abuse, but has been released on bond.

The investigation is still ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact the Vance County Sheriff’s Office at 252-738-2200.
