Sinkhole opens up in Fayetteville; Cliffdale Road closed

A sinkhole has opened up Wednesday afternoon in Fayetteville.

According to the police, the sinkhole opened up on Cliffdale Road. Authorities have closed the road between Kirkwood Drive and McPherson Church Road.

Fayetteville police are asking drivers to avoid Cliffdale Road and find an alternative route.

This is the second sinkhole in just as many weeks that has opened in Fayetteville.

On June 27, a Fayetteville police officer was thrown into a sinkhole on Raeford Road in Fayetteville that opened on U.S. 401, near Seventy-First Middle and High Schools after being hit by an 18-wheeler.
