According to the Wilson Police Department, shots were fired Monday afternoon in the parking lot of the Walmart on Forest Hills Road.

Police said the shooting stemmed from an argument between two groups of people who fled the scene.

Witnesses said four or five shots were fired about 35 feet in front of the store.

Based on witness statements and surveillance footage from Walmart, police said they were able to identify the individuals involved.

Officers determined that Yah-Shaun Syncere Johnson, 19, attempted to shoot a Walmart employee Derrick Latrell Artis, 20, and Amonte Watson, 19, outside of Walmart before fleeing in a white sedan driven by Johnson’s fiancé, Destiny Roychelle Spell, 25.

Artis fled on foot, and Watson left in a red car.

During the investigation, both cars were located along with Watson, Johnson and Spell, who were interviewed by police.

Johnson was charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and two counts of injury to personal property. Johnson was given no bond since he's on pretrial release for a pending firearm-related charge.

Spell was charged with two counts of felony accessory after the fact to attempted first-degree murder. Spell was given a $25,000 secured bond for her involvement.

Two unrelated cars were struck by gunfire. At this time, there are no reported injuries. The investigation is ongoing.
