Shots fired at home of Chatham County deputy; Pittsboro police investigating

Shots were fired at the home of a Chatham County Sheriff's Office deputy Monday night.

According to the Sheriff's Office, the deputy's home was targeted by "an individual or individuals."

No one was injured in the shooting.

Chatham County Sheriff Mike Roberson condemned the shooting and announced a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.

“The safety and well-being of our officers and their families is of utmost importance to us,” Roberson said. “An attack on a deputy’s home is not just an attack on one person; it is an attack on the values of justice, security, and the rule of law. This act of violence will not be tolerated. Anyone who targets law enforcement in our community will face the full force of the law."

The Sheriff's Office said the Pittsboro Police Department is investigating the shooting.
