Second person arrested in connection with deadly December 2023 shooting in Raleigh

The man, later identified as 22-year-old Nicolas Ricardo Carrasco Domenec, was taken to the hospital with what police described as serious injuries. Police said Domenec died from his injuries.

A second person has been arrested in connection with a deadly December 2023 shooting in Raleigh.

Kayla Elaine Jones, 22, has been arrested and charged with the following crimes:

  • Accessory after-the-fact to murder
  • Felony harboring an escapee
  • Obstructing justice

On Dec. 2, 2023, Raleigh police responded to a shooting call at 8:37 p.m. in the 100 block of Summit Avenue.

Police found 22-year-old Nicolas Ricardo Carrasco Domenec suffering from a gunshot wound. Domenec was taken to the hospital, where he later died.

Just a couple of days after the shooting, Marcus Fletcher, 23, of Durham, was charged with murder in connection with the shooting.

When police went to arrest Fletcher, court documents said Jones stalled police while Fletcher destroyed evidence. Court documents also said she lied repeatedly to law enforcement.

Jones has been given a $3 million secured bond. She is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday at 1:30 p.m.
