Knightdale police announced charges against a second man for his role in a late July shooting.

Brandon Bumpass, 24, of Raleigh, is charged with accessory after the fact to attempted first-degree murder.

Officers arrested Tyler Squirewell, 29, of Clayton, and charged him with one count of assault inflicting serious injury after responding to a shooting on July 28 at Sports Page Bar at 835 North Smithfield Road.

Police arrested Bumpass for unrelated crimes.

Authorities found one person suffering from a gunshot wound and two others who were injured in the incident.

Police said the attacks happened on the sidewalk in front of the bar.

The shooting victim remains hospitalized, police said. The assault victims received treatment at the scene.

“We remain grateful for the quick actions of our responding officers, and for the ongoing efforts of our detectives,” Police Chief Lawrence Capps said. “This is still an active investigation.

“Though I cannot discuss the details of this case, it is important to note that we expect to announce additional charges and arrests in the coming days.”

Capps said police have worked closely with the site’s property managers to address concerns and identify strategies for ensuring the continued safety of business owners, patrons and employees.
